Daylight savings time ended last night. I would vote against Daylight savings time if it came to vote.

The kids have religious education classes this a.m.. Gil will be taking them - not going to Mass today.

Yesterday Gil had to work until about 1:00. I took off from the house at 10A.M. with the kids, and William's friend Malaki, and we all headed to Gardner and Olathe. In Gardner, we left bottles at the Ripple recycling bin at Price Chopper, cashed my check from driving the Maple Leaf Festival bus, dropped off some hand-me-downs and fundraiser item Meghann bought from Daniella with Michael and Zo at the McDs.

First stop in Olathe was at IHOP. We all had eggs and pancakes and some breakfast meat, and the girls and I also had hashbrowns. This is all leading up to a Lego event at Borders, by the way. While next dropping off Harley's fundraiser item at Patty Ponce's, we looked at her new patio section poured by Geiger and worked on by none other than Gilbert. From there we headed to Keatings where we dropped off a fundraiser item and picked up a tub of stuff from Christina for Meghann.

Finally it was time to head to Borders, which we did by going the back way. We took roads I'd never travelled, some of them because they're brand new. We ended up crossing I-35 on 111th (College Blvd) and taking Strang Line Rd. south to reach Borders from the north- a new one for me.

The kids and I meandered around in Borders for about 45 minutes until it was time for the Lego event at 2:00. They (Wil & Mal) got to color some Atlantis paper while eating sections of cupcake and sampling peach smoothies. Then they had a trivia event and a scavenger hunt. They each netted a small Lego set and a cool clear bouncy ball filled with blue glitter. I love those balls! I had a 40% off a toy coupon which I used to buy a Lego set William wanted, when he wasn't looking, for Christmas. Victoria got a book, Daniella got a small notepad, Wil & Mal got a mystery Lego person-pack each.

Since the toys really are a bit more expensive and there is less of a variety at Borders, we headed to the Walmart on Santa Fe so the boys could spend their money. Daniella got the alphabet beads she's been wanting and I picked up grocery bits too.

On the way home we dropped of the tub at Meghann's. We got home about 5:45 and Malaki stayed and played until about 7. I made pizza rolls- lovely supper :)

Tomorrow night I have Booster Club meeting, Tuesday night William has Den Meeting, Thursday night I have Book Club meeting.

Meili's mom emailed me and offered me a free queensize mattress. Just when I was telling Gil we probably need a new one; cool huh?

Blogging is Best

Thanks to my cousin Ron, I am back at Blogspot. It's been 2 years since I've blogged. I do occasionally blog on Multiply, but not much since I joined Facebook. Yes, evil soul-robbing FB.

I think of blogging as writing personal articles. Perhaps that's the defining characteristic of the Blog, or perhaps I'm standing in far left field, looking upward as usual.

Today is Tuesday, and on Sunday Oct. 17, my family (Gil, me, Vic, Dan, Wil) went to Shawnee Mission Park, shelter house 8, for the Whedon Gathering. No, no one was gathering Whedons. We of William T. Whedon, Sr. and Anne Raysik Whedon gathered together to observe and interact with each other.

It was an absolutely marvelous day all around. I use the word 'marvelous' as opposed to the word 'perfect' because there were a few no-shows. My dad. My daughter, her man Jeff, and my granddaughter. My uncle Rob. My cousin John E. My cousins Sam W. and Chris W. My cousin Billy and his wife Melissa. Who else?

Most of us agree the high point of the Gathering was Scott F. coming in from Virginia with his kids. Not only was it great to see him after I don't know how many years (way too many,) but he's entertaining.

I've never posted photos on this particular blogsite before, but here goes:

This was one of the last in the sequence of the group photo, so you can see folks beginning to get restless. The only ones not in the photo but were in attendance were Ann Whedon with Dennis (they showed up after the photo shoot and after many had already left), and Brian Steele (who was manning the camera)

GREAT day!
